2019 Calendar of Activities and Events

ArtSeed’s Labyrinth Studios –  By individual appointment or group arrangements teachers, families and artists of all ages and levels of expertise practice time-tested or experimental techniques using the highest grade materials. 1) Freelance space, equipment use, and exhibition opportunities for volunteers. 2) Training for artists who wish to teach. 3) Coaching for classroom teachers who wish to develop ideas for classroom art projects. 4) Year-long apprenticeships. 5) Afterschool instruction and weekend classes. 6) Fieldtrips with hands-on activities. Drop-in Sundays: 1–3 p.m. Collaborative art-making studios where you can start your own art project or join a group endeavor. No one turned away for lack of funds. Apprenticeship Wednesdays: 2:30–4:30 p.m. All-Day Workshop on Public School Holidays: Jan. 21 (Martin Luther King Jr. Day), Feb. 18 (President’s Day), Mar. 29 (César Chávez Day), May 27 (Memorial Day). ArtSeed School Programs – San Francisco Montessori Academy, Preschool students, 4 – 5 p.m. Thursdays,  1283 22nd Ave. San Francisco; St. Brigid School, K–8th grade students, 20 classes, Mondays, 2–4 p.m. (1–3 p.m. on early dismissal days), November 5 to May 13,  2250 Franklin St., San Francisco.

Board Retreat and Volunteer Thank You Party Saturday, January 12, 2019, 5 – 10 p.m. Location: Presidio’s Tides Converge. 1007 General Kennedy Ave. Suite 215, San Francisco, CA 94129.

Volunteer Orientation/Staff Development All-Day Workshop (with LUNCH RSVP noon-1pm) 8:30-5:30, with concurrent Workshop for Students of Working Parents. Location: ArtSeed’s Labyrinth Studios, PPMC at 4301 Geary Blvd., 7th Avenue entrance, 2nd floor, rooms 5a-c San Francisco.

Boardmatch, 5:30 p.m. – 8 p.m., March 4, 2019. Location: Hilton San Francisco Union Square, 333 O’Farrell St, San Francisco, CA 94102

ArtSeed Fine Arts Spring Intensive, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. weekdays, March 25 – 29, 2019. For ten students, ages 8 to 18 years, or for younger students after an interview. Location: 1007 General Kennedy Ave. Suite 215 in the Presidio and Labyrinth Studios, 4301 Geary Blvd at 7th Avenue, 2nd floor.

ArtSeed Earth Week Art-a-thon, 10 a.m.– 8 p.m., Saturday, April, 27, 2019. A 10-hour art-and-music-making benefit marathon and festival. Participants invited to observe or raise funds to keep mentorships available regardless of ability to pay. Location: The Presidio’s Tides Converge, Rear Entrance: 1016 Torney Ave., S.F.

ArtSeed Spring Open Studios, 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, May 4 & 5, 2019. ArtSeed presents selected work from our educational programs to be displayed alongside art by mentoring artists. Location: Bayview Hunters Point Shipyard, Building 101, Studio 2513.

ArtSeed Fine Arts Summer Intensive, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. weekdays, June 10 – 21 & July 8 – 12, 2019. Ten students, 10-18 years old. Younger students must pass an interview. Individual portfolio and collaborative project-building workshop with high artist-to-student ratio. Ends with an exhibition, fall 2019. Scholarships available. Location:1007 General Kennedy Ave. Suite 215 in the Presidio and Labyrinth Studios, 4301 Geary Blvd at 7th Avenue, 2nd floor.

ArtSeed 2019 Theme & Year-End Exhibition (working title), 13th, 14th, 15th: Animal Fables explain Three Post Civil War Amendments to the US Constitution. Opening Reception, 5 – 7 p.m. Thursday, September 5, 2019; Closing Reception 3 – 5 p.m. Saturday, October 5, 2019. Location: 1007 General Kennedy Ave. Suite 215 in the Presidio and China Brotsky and Seed Galleries, Tides Converge, Rear Entrance: 1016 Torney Ave.
