Dear ArtSeed Friend, For seventeen years ArtSeed’s Mission has been to connect gifted and vulnerable communities. This year more than 500 children, teachers, and artists worked weekly to create a final exhibition that was the culmination of an unparalleled long haul and in-depth approach to teaching. Our methods and techniques are time-tested. Young people grappled with sophisticated and relevant themes that stimulated critical thinking. They developed discipline and expressive skills that changed attitudes about their future. “As an ArtSeed student I learned that a mistake can turn into something beautiful. Like in life, things don’t always turn out as you might hope, but they can end up being something unexpected that you will learn to love.”– Kimberly, ArtSeed Youth Council
ArtSeed’s Apprenticeship/Internship Program doubled in size as we expanded into magical new digs! Every Sunday, 1-3 p.m., we’d love to have you come to our new studios at 4301 Geary Boulevard at 7th Avenue in San Francisco. Make art, have fun, discover new friends, and brainstorm with artists and kids for our coming season and next summer’s exhibition, Marching Home: Grasping Valor, Seeking Freedom, and Preserving History on the Way to Peace. How would you interpret such a theme? Creativity saves lives by giving voice to irreplaceable points of view. Bay Area veterans, artists, students, teachers, and elders want to explore with you the meaning of statesmanship, bravery and belonging. You can see the results of these workshops in two open studios in Bayview Hunters Point and an exhibition at the Thoreau Center for Sustainability in the Presidio, a historic National Park. “During ArtSeed’s Summer Intensive, I noticed lots of laughter. I was an independent, serious girl, but when I started knowing other people better, I became more playful and kind. ArtSeed changed my personality.” – Paola, ArtSeed Youth Council Please grow with us! No matter your gift’s size, you will have an intimate sense of its impact. ArtSeed is grateful for your support and we thank you warmly in advance!
