Leola M. Havard EES Art-a-thon Team

Kathryn Kain, Lead ArtSeed Teaching Artist, is a painter and master printmaker at Smith Andersen Editions. She has an M.F.A. from San Francisco Art Institute and BFA. from Cleveland Art Institute. She teaches at Stanford and San Jose State Universities.

Caroline Liddell, ArtSeed’s Lead Mentoring Artist, has a BFA. in Printmaking from the San Francisco Art Institute and shares her expertise in drawing, collaged dioramas and quilt-making with ArtSeed children in long-term apprenticeships. 

Joseph Aponte, ArtSeed Mentoring Artist and ArtSeed’s Hunters Point Studio Resident Artist, is a young muralist, with commissions in private homes and public spaces in San Francisco and around California, has shown in multiple galleries and was a teaching artist at City of Dreams youth development program. He is currently teaching at San Francisco’s Meridian Gallery in a youth program which he attended and benefitted from.

Todd Standish, ArtSeed Teaching Artist, has an M.F.A. from UC Berkeley, and a B.F.A. from SUNY-Binghamton. For 6 years, he managed and was Lead Painter for a commercial mural studio in San Francisco. He has designed and painted large scale murals for casinos, restaurants, businesses, and private residences. Todd has also run his own graphic design and illustration business for the past 14 years. He has taught art at K-5 schools in San Francisco, currently working with ArtSeed at Leola M. Havard Early Education School in Bayview.

Barbra A. Richardson, Bayview Hunters Point Community Liaison – Barbra A. Richardson worked for the University of California School of Dentistry for 35 years, 25 of them as Admissions Officer. She volunteers at the Leola Havard Early Education School in Bayview Hunters Point where her grandson, Kali Richardson, has been an ArtSeed 2012 Apprentice. She has also volunteered at the American Conservatory Theatre for many years.

Josefa Vaughan, Founder and Executive Director of ArtSeed – Josefa is an exhibiting artist who has shown in San Francisco, Houston, Paris, and beyond. She has taught in the San Francisco and Houston public schools, the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, San Francisco Chinese American School, and San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. She has received commissions from the City of San Francisco and was a resident artist at the de Young Museum and Djerassi Resident Artists Program. Josefa has lectured at the San Francisco Art Institute, San Jose State University, University of California Davis, University of San Francisco, and Stanford University. She has also been a panelist for the California Arts Council.

Charles “Trey” Houston, ArtSeed’s Program Coordinator, is a professional documentary videographer specializing in capturing the magic and vitality of the nonprofit sector. He majored in photography, at the Savannah College of Art and Design and attended the Vancouver Film School. As director of Chuck Three Productions he has worked on commercial productions, short and feature length films, music and live event productions.
