What is a cottage industry today? How has technology changed the way people live, work, and communicate? Will the youngest and most vulnerable citizens in the future live on a safe, healthy planet? With such questions in mind, hundreds of ArtSeed’s school children have worked with artists to make art about poverty’s many forms. Some have addressed the issues directly, others have simply made what has moved them. ArtSeed’s wonderful partners include Leola M. Havard and Presidio Early Education Schools, SF Public Montessori School, Marina Middle School, St. Brigid School, SF Montessori Academy, Presidio Trust. Featured artists include Timothy Abeyta,Jan Van Buyten, Jeff Castleman, Mark Harris, Trey Houston, Gabriela Hofmeyer, Kathryn Kain, Marissa Kunz, Caroline Liddell, Bryant Lui, Margaret Ma, Peter Mann, Catie O’Leary, Craig Perry, Debbie Ray, William Scott, Xander Weaver-Scull, Carrie Yan, and others. Curators: Josefa Vaughan, Sabine Gysens, and Justin Dizon.
Artwork pick-up: July 25, 5 p. m. or, at the ArtSeed Cottage, Sundays, 1-6 p. m.

Thank You for a Magical Art-a-thon!
Big thanks to all sponsors and volunteers who made the Seventh Annual Earth Week Art-a-thon as magical as ever!
This year’s Art-a-thon was a blast, good food, music and, most importantly, art happened! Art-a-thon angels volunteered time and expertise, made in-kind donations, made music, and reached out to new friends. There is still time to redeem your outstanding pledges and it’s never too late to join our list of sponsors: http://www.artseed.org/benefactors-2015/ÂÂ
Special thanks to
Xander Weaver Skull
Winner of the Art-a-thon
Presenting Artist Award! Â
Through the use of hand-drawn and cut stencils, watercolor, and homemade inks from natural pigments, Xander brings attention to the impact humans are having on the Earth’s other inhabitants. In a world where fear and apocalyptic framing are widely used to influence people, Xander creates work that is positive, and presents the issue in a non-confrontational manner. Xander states that “this artwork is a way for me to honor living beings harmed by human action, and to craft something beautiful and healing. I try not to tell my viewers what to think, rather create a moment for reflection and appreciation.” For more about Xander click here: www.xanderweaverscull.com
Reward: For any information leading to the anonymous artist responsible for making this “GROW” drawing at the Art-a-thon!Â
